First off, let me say that this book is all about smokers, not just barbecuing in your backyard. If you don't own one, then you'd better buy one to use this book. The cover of the book does not tell you this, so I am.
Having said that, I will say that there are some very good recipes inside. Having my dad from Texas, we ate a lot of BBQ growing up, and I'm still fond of it today. But not just any chain restaurant; it needs to be made well. Therefore, the only way to do this is either find a little out of the way smokehouse, or do it yourself. This book carries many of those recipes that you thought you couldn't do at home, and it shows you how.
There's a lot of different meats cooked for many regions of the USA, all known for great BBQ: Texas brisket, Kansas City burnt ends, St. Louis ribs, Memphis pulled pork -- well, you get the idea. But the main thing is you need to find a decent smoker, and this book tells you also what wood to use and how to process it all. For that, this is a really good book. I've found a lot of recipes to get out this summer, and I hope you do, too.
